There is change happening in the world and I can’t help but want to be part of in…in some way.  Check out THIS WEB LINK about protesters in Cairo’s Tahrir Square who are marching in solidarity for the protesters in Oakland (who were rather brutally “managed” by the police last week). One commentator to the blog entry wrote, “It’s a pretty sorry day in the good ole’ US of A when protesters in Egypt have to stick up for our rights here.” THAT tiny little sentence, written by someone calling him or herself “Lavardera,” is worth pondering and more than a scant amount of reflection by citizens on this side of the drink. So Let me kick it out to people. Do you know what happened in Oakland? Do you know what IS HAPPENING in Oakland? Or in NYC or in Los Angeles or in Washington, DC or at the HUB on our campus? What are the Egyptians thinking that you are not?

One final thing to keep in mind…

Egypt is by no means a wealthy country as a fifth of the population live at or below the poverty line, which the World Bank puts at $2.00 per day.  Here they are thinking about us.  Hmm…
