FAQs For Students

WHAT IF THERE ARE NO OPENINGS WHEN I TRY TO SIGN UP?
We have more than enough seats for each person in your class. So if there are no open seats when you register, check back later in the day or the next day. We put up seats on a rolling basis. But to avert any problems, sign up early—and do not skip your program—because there are NO GUARANTEES that you will find space on another day/time. If all of the programs on the web site are full or if you have additional problems, contact Sheffy Sodhi or Becky Guldin, the Program Coordinators, at worldinconversation@gmail.com or by phone at 814.753.2320

HOW DO I GET CREDIT FOR A WinC PROGRAM?
You receive points toward your final grade when you complete a WinC program. To receive these points, your facilitators will take attendance at the beginning of the program you attend. We will send this list to your instructor.

DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR A WinC PROGRAM THAT I PLAN TO ATTEND?
Yes, you must register for a program before you attend — even if it is at the last minute.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO MISS A PROGRAM FOR WHICH I AM REGISTERED?
If you cannot attend a program for which you have registered, remove yourself from the list by signing onto the registration page and going to the “My Sessions” section and click the “Unschedule” link. But remember, there are a limited number of seats available for your class. So you may NOT be able to make it up at a later date.

WHAT IF I AM LATE TO MY PROGRAM (OR HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY)?
If you arrive more than 5 minutes late to the program, we will ask you to register for another session. If you can not stay for the FULL duration of the program, you will need to select another session.

WHERE ARE THE ROOMS FOR WinC GROUPS?
All groups take place in Pond Lab. This building is next to Oswald Tower—and Oswald is behind the Burrowes Building (and Burrowes flanks the Pattee Library mall on the East side).

WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY DONE A WinC PROGRAM FOR ANOTHER CLASS?
Every conversation is different. So if you have the opportunity to experience more than one, you’ll have the benefit of learning more than you did the first time—by hearing the views of a new group of participants and hearing your own responses to new questions and scenarios that arise in the conversation.
So if you have more than one faculty member that requires you to participate with the WinC in a single semester, you should plan to attend two programs.
